Nick Tann’s Fresh Music Fix – Episode 21
We’re back with another fresh batch of incredible original music, and this week we’re mixing power pop, political bite, heartfelt energy and some good old guitar-led charm.
First up, The Forensics set the pace with Maxine. Hailing from Preston, this working-class four-piece hit hard with layers of electric guitar and uplifting energy. Next, Nearly Skulls drop Only In America, a slick, punchy track with big production and even bigger intent. Built on British-American influences like Gang of Four, Foo Fighters, and R.E.M., this one’s a statement as much as it is a song. It’s bold, smart, and very, very listenable. We wrap things up with the legendary Candy Opera and their beautifully crafted single Start All Over Again. Formed back in 1982, reformed in 2019, and now finding new audiences around the world, Candy Opera still write songs with real charm and staying power. From sharing stages with The Wedding Present and The Real People to releasing critically acclaimed albums, this is a band worth revisiting.
