We kick off this week’s episode with an absolute banger from Lea G – Again and Again.

Her bio says:

Next up is Masi Masi with The Rain – a track that hits my musical pleasure centre and ticks all the right boxes.

Based in Bradford, Masi Masi recorded this gritty, groove-laden track in a friend’s garage in LA. He slept on the floor and crafted what has become the third release from an upcoming album. Featuring James Kirk on drums and Adrian Padilla (also co-producer) on guitar, The Rain offers a clear glimpse into the raw energy of the Masi Masi live experience.

He’ll be playing a hometown show in Leeds this summer, as well as sets at Beatherder Festival and on This Feeling’s stage at the Isle of Wight Festival.

Third on the list is Novelist Me with Why Do You Talk – track 9 from their latest album.” A minimalist breakup cut that’s almost too honest for comfort. “So happy for you / But not so much for me” is the kind of line you only say once before hating yourself for it. The repetition of “Why do you talk?” is a dagger cloaked in indie ennui”
When I played this to a few friends, it split the room. Marmite vibes. Love it or hate it – you decide. I obviously love it.

We close the show with New Royal Standard and their outstanding track Soul Crushing.
This one left us smiling – a beautifully layered production with a killer chorus and some real lyrical bite.

Here’s a snippet from their bio:

Nick Tann’s Fresh Music Fix – Episode 21 

We’re back with another fresh batch of incredible original music, and this week we’re mixing power pop, political bite, heartfelt energy and some good old guitar-led charm.

First up, The Forensics set the pace with Maxine. Hailing from Preston, this working-class four-piece hit hard with layers of electric guitar and uplifting energy. Next, Nearly Skulls drop Only In America, a slick, punchy track with big production and even bigger intent. Built on British-American influences like Gang of Four, Foo Fighters, and R.E.M., this one’s a statement as much as it is a song. It’s bold, smart, and very, very listenable. We wrap things up with the legendary Candy Opera and their beautifully crafted single Start All Over Again. Formed back in 1982, reformed in 2019, and now finding new audiences around the world, Candy Opera still write songs with real charm and staying power. From sharing stages with The Wedding Present and The Real People to releasing critically acclaimed albums, this is a band worth revisiting. We’re back with another finely tuned selection of original music from unsigned and independent artists you need to hear.

First up, long-time friends of the podcast The Real Flower Pots return with their latest single Birdie. Formed in 2024 by Kansas City composers Patrick Meagher and Johnny Marie (also of Girl for Samson), The Real Flower Pots began by finishing each other’s half-written tracks without genre limits or interference. The result is fresh, playful and full of charm.

Next, we welcome back the incredible Milena with Above The Ground, a stunning piano-driven piece that stopped us in our tracks. What started as a quiet instrumental in B minor turned into a fully fledged song—complete with five-part harmonies—during a burst of inspiration while cooking spicy prawn noodles. We’ll definitely be playing more of Milena’s music in future episodes.

Third on the list is Poppie Marynns and the slow-burning Venus-Mars. Based in Coventry, Poppie is a producer, musician and multi-instrumentalist blending rock, electronic, and psychedelic influences. His style takes a moment to settle in, but once it does, it’s unforgettable.
