Girl for Samson, Amity, Soft Cotton County, TheRealFlowerPots

EPISODE 9

With a lovable brashness and a skip in their step, Girl for Samson delight us with their latest single Cigarette. With echos of The La’s and jangly 90s swagger, they set the tone on an amazing show. Poppy Bristow (Fresh on the Net) described them as “Psychedelic-indie trio Girl for Samson may hail from Kansas City, but
press play on Cigarette and its funky bass, baggy-beat percussion, and Inspiral Carpets organ accents will fire you straight through a wormhole to 90s Manchester or Liverpool. In its synthesis of cool-cat detachment and oracular yearning, the lead vocal recalls the pleasing retro-pop
tang of La’s frontman Lee Mavers, a comparison matched by the track’s gleaming popcraft.” Which is right on the nail! They have a website kind of thing that you should definitely check out.

Second comes Amity and his transcendent track Bite Me! As well as delivering a master class in writing songs and melodies, the quality of his voice and the production of the songs exceeds any words I can use to describe them So I won’t. Just listen to the track, be amazed and move on with your life knowing that you will have to listen to this song at least once a week for about 3 months. Yeah, we loved it. He does have a fabulous website here.

Soft Cotton County were kind enough to send us copies of their album. We like gifts, who doesn’t but Coward of the Country Fair, their first single from the album, is gift enough. It’s a perfect comedown and provided us with the prefect answer to the Amity question. They also have a delightful website where you can order YOUR album. It’s a gatefold with lyrics that made Chris smile from ear to ear.

TheRealFlowerPots end this outstanding collection of music with the stonker that is StormShelter. Listen to the show to find out the secrets this track and the song at the top of the show share. With a hint of “Get Carter” and some more 90s swagger. This is their website thing…. this hits the spot and brings this episode to a beautiful end.

p.s. that pic is of me after my race.
